Governor Alexander P. Cureg
DISTRICT 3780
Alexander “Alex” Cureg is a registered Civil Engineer and a successful entrepreneur. He is married to Dr. Vicky Cureg, an Anesthesiologist, and a member of the American Medical Technologists. Vicky is currently involved in Medical Technology work in Los Angeles, California, USA and living with their three adorable children namely, Kathleen Ayra, John Boris and Matthew Kaiser, who are all pursuing their studies in the United States.
Humble Beginnings
Alex is a simple, self-made man, born on January 30, 1958 in San Pablo, Isabela. He is the second of eleven siblings, who now are all successful professionals and businesspersons. His parents, Angela and William Cureg, barely made both ends meet, with nothing much in life except their will to survive, industriousness, and a deep faith in God.
During his elementary and high school years, Alex did farming with his late grandfather to help augment his parents' meager income. Alex recalls the work as backbreaking but rewarding, having learned, among others, the sound values of hard work and tenacity amidst poverty. Alex completed his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree at the Adamson University as a working student, as his parents could not at that time send all of their children to college.
After graduation, he immediately joined the Construction and Development Corporation of the Philippines (CDCP), now known as PNCC, and at that time the country's biggest construction company. He passed the Civil Engineering board examination in 1986, after which he joined Nova Centurii, the construction arm of the Meridien Group of Companies, the developer of the famous Essensa Towers at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. In less then six months, because of his excellent performance and his proven expertise in construction management, he was promoted to project manager for the company's other successful high rise projects namely, Le Grand and Le Metropole Condominiums, both in Salcedo Village, Makati City.

His Business Success
In the late 90s, with Vicky bearing their first child, Alex decided to pursue his dream. His long time ambition of becoming a contractor-entrepreneur turned into reality when he astutely saw and benefited from the country's construction boom at that time. He founded the Transcend Construction and Development Corporation with limited capital and started as labor sub-contractor at well known establishments such as the Diamond Hotel and the EDSA Shangri-La Plaza.
The company later expanded its services to include general contracting, design, and project management. Resultantly, the company had to be re-engineered. Thus, New Transcend Construction and Development Corporation was born. Alex was able to build the company’s sterling reputation through the years and sustain its growth despite the economic slowdown in 1997. Alex's effective management style and his professional relationship with his satisfied clients and suppliers defined the company’s success. Another major factor is his warm, caring relationship with his employees. As one of them shared, “He always acts like a father, a brother, and a dependable provider whenever we need help.” Indeed, all these factors combined have been the secret behind his business successes, through the past years and for many more to come.
